Carpet Cleaning

The cleaning method we use is known as "Hot Water Extraction" or "Steam Cleaning". It is the cleaning method nearly all carpet manufacturers and carpet fiber producers recommend. The choice of the proper cleaning system is extremely important. Some systems leave residues which promote re-soiling and defeat the whole purpose of cleaning. Some methods actually damage the carpet fibers and shorten the life of the carpet.

This is the only cleaning method classified as "deep cleaning". All the others are considered "light surface cleaning" because they are incapable of removing soil deep in the pile. Also, all other methods leave large amounts of cleaning agent in the carpet after cleaning.

The maintenance brochure published by the world's largest carpet manufacturer, Shaw Industries , recommends this method, because its own research indicates that it provides the best capability for cleaning.

This method is frequently called "steam" cleaning due to the fine spray of water used to force dirt out of the carpet which is sucked up by the vacuum slot immediately in front of the spray. Seldom is real live steam used, however. This process consists of spraying a solution of water and detergent into the carpet pile and recovering the water and soil with a powerful vacuum into a holding tank with the dirty air and humidity exhausted outside. This is done from a truck-mounted unit outside the home with only the hose and floor tool brought inside

Many companies offer hot water extraction, however many will not give you the same level of service Referral will. Click here to find out how we are different and why you should choose Referral to keep your home sparkling clean.

Upholstery Cleaning

We don't just clean carpets. Referral's carpet cleaning technicians are also experts in cleaning upholstery. We know the right cleaning methods for a particular fiber or fabric. Our steam-powered equipment will clean almost any sofa, love seat, chair or other piece of upholstered furniture.

Your home contains many pieces of furniture created from many different fibers, each with different characteristics. Cleaning these fibers properly takes experience and the correct cleaning methods. No one method cleans all upholstery fibers. So that expensive living room set, dining room chair cushion, or office ensemble you bought years ago doesn't need to be replaced. Referral will make it look like new again. So when you call us to have your carpets cleaned, don't ignore your furniture. We can do both at the same time. You can also drop off a piece of furniture or just a cushion if needed to our shop.

Water Damage Restoration

At Referral we specialize in water damage restoration. We have received education and certification. We are certified by the IICRC (The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) as Water Restoration Technicians. We have also attended Chuck Dewalds Vortex drying school and Drieaz University where we have earned Applied Structural Drying Certifications. This certification distinguishes restorers who have completed an intensive hands-on course in how to dry complete structures. It's called Applied Structural Drying because students actually "apply" new drying techniques as they learn them. Many carpet cleaners claim to offer water damage restoration service because they can remove the water with their machine. However this is just the tip of the iceberg. Water damage restoration is very different from carpet cleaning.

If you have water damage…you need quick response!
We are able to respond quickly to your call. We have a box truck ready to roll that contains anything we may need to return your home or business back to pre loss condition as soon as possible

Using high tech moisture detection devices we can determine the extent of the damage and assess the most cost effective solution to dry and restore personal belongings We explain what is involved in the drying & restoration process and work diligently to get you back on your feet as quickly as possible.

Powerful equipment
We have invested thousands of dollars in the best water extraction and drying equipment available. The first step in water damage restoration is to remove as much water as possible through mechanical extraction. This is generally accomplished by using the Hydro-X extreme extractor which removes water from the carpet and pad while in place. Then high volume and pressure air movers, and low grain dehumidifiers are used to create a drying chamber to remove the remaining moisture from the carpet, and structure including the walls, baseboard, and any affected contents. This is a crucial step if health hazards are to be avoided such as mold, mildew or follow odors.

Diligent Tracking
Once the restoration has begun, the job is tracked throughout the process and the equipment is monitored and adjusted to maintain optimal drying conditions. The flooring and walls are checked with moisture meters to be sure the humidity levels and moisture levels are correct.

We handle the job from start to finish
Once the structure has reached pre loss moisture levels we can deodorize the carpet and perform a cleaning of any of the affected area's or items.

Insured's Responsibility: The insured is authorized and required by their insurance company to take prudent action to minimize loss. Failure to do so may absolve the insurance carrier from liability.

Your business and your home are your two biggest assets and it is natural for you to want to get your possessions back in order after water damage. These tips will assist you in taking the proper action until professional assistance arrives and will increase the chances for a successful restoration.

What to do when water damage occurs

  • Notify Your Insurance Company!
  • Safety first! If water is in the walls or ceiling, turn off electricity and remember that soaked ceilings may fall. Also, use caution on wet, slippery surfaces.
  • Eliminate the source of the water. Know where your water shut-off vales are, or contact a plumber. If the source of water is not immediately evident, turn the water off at the meter
  • Remove as much excess water as soon as possible by mopping and blotting.
  • Remove personal belongings and furniture. Your furniture can bleed, swell and delaminate if left on wet carpet. Water travels underneath carpet several feet further than evident on the top side.
  • Wipe as much excess water from wood furniture after removal of lamps and table top items.
  • Remove valuable paintings and art objects to a safe place.
  • Place aluminum foil, plastic or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpeting.
  • What NOT to do when water damage occurs
Do not wait for a response from an insurance representative before doing the necessary emergency services or calling a professional.
  • Do not leave fabrics in place; dry as soon as possible, hang furs and leather goods to dry separately at room temperature.
  • Do not leave books, magazines, or other colored items on wet carpets or floors.
  • Do not use your household vacuum to remove water.
  • Do not use TV or other appliances while standing on wet carpets or floors, especially not on wet concrete floors.
  • Do not turn on ceiling fixtures if ceiling is wet, and keep out of rooms where ceilings are sagging from retained water.

Scotchgard Carpet & Fabric Protection

Scotchgard repels dirt and stains
It's always a pleasure to see how bright and clean your carpets look right after they've been professionally cleaned. Now you can keep them looking fresh and new longer by asking for Scotchgard protection

Scotchgard delivers its protection by forming a molecular shield around each carpet fiber. The shield lowers the surface energy of the carpet fibers causing them to repel liquid spills and dust and dirt. This helps prevent dirt and stains from being ground into or absorbed by the fibers.

Scotchgard uses technology to provide more repellency than any other carpet protector. It repels most liquids, allowing spills to be removed before staining and wicking can occur. Dirt and stains cling to untreated carpet and quickly become embedded in the fibers. Scotchgard keeps dirt from sticking to the fibers, making carpets easier to care for.

Scotchgard must be professionally applied by your carpet cleaner. It is applied by spray application, dries quickly, and leaves no odor. It is non-toxic and safe to use around family and pets. It's CFC- and solvent-free.

3M recommends the application of Scotchgard after each cleaning on all carpet fiber types.
With an application of Scotchgard carpet protector, you have the assurance your carpet is protected with a premium quality product.

The next time you have your carpets professionally cleaned, be sure to ask for Scotchgard carpet protector.

Does Scotchgard really work?
Notice what our clients had to say.

I appreciate the care and recommendation of Scotchgard in high traffic areas. It extends the time between cleaning because the carpet remains cleaner longer. - Nancy Adams

On July 4th our son and his family were here visiting. Our 9 year old grandson spilled a can of coke all over the carpet. I simply grabbed a towel, dampened it and laid it over the spill. Every bit of it came up! You couldn't even tell where the spill was! I was amazed at the way the coke beaded up on TOP of the carpet. I never wanted to have our floor Scothguarded in the past but I am sure glad I changed my mind. That Scotchgard worked like a charm! - Mrs. Miller

Mattress Cleaning

Mattress cleaning and allergen removal really started in Europe about 15 years ago. Why clean mattresses? There is a growing amount of scientific data that reveals better environmental hygiene improves health. The Environmental Protection Agency has consistently ranked indoor air pollution among the top five environmental risks to public health, and according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, "50 percent of all illnesses are caused by or aggravated by polluted indoor air." The No.1 indoor allergen source? The common house dust mite. Dust mites are microscopic, eight-legged arachnids (not insects) 0.3mm in, length. They are invisible to the human eye, so small they can crawl through the weave of bedding fabrics.

Dust mites feed on tiny flakes of shed human skin cells. The average adult sheds about 2 pounds of skin per year. This will feed millions of dust mites. The dust mite is not what causes the problem; this lies with a protein found in the fecal matter called Der pl. The fecal mater is lighter than air and becomes airborne when disturbed by activity like fluffing pillows and tossing and turning during the night. The airborne particles are inhaled; the protein Der pI breaks down the protective mucous lining of the eyes, nose, lungs and skin. The allergens enter the body and cause an overreaction of the human immune system. According to a study published by The National Institute of Environmental Health, 46 percent of North American homes have bedding with enough dust mite allergens to cause allergies. So what about mattresses? For allergy sufferers, the bedroom is the primary source of dust mite exposure in the home. About 60 percent of mites in the home are found in the mattress, as we spend one third of our life in bed - shedding skin and feeding dust mites.

To effectively control dust mite allergens, the mattress should be regularly cleaned, about every 6 months for allergy sufferers.

Ceramic Tile & Grout Cleaning and Sealing

Do you miss the white grout lines from the past?. Are you tired of getting on your hands and knees in an attempt to clean the grout, yet have little success? New tools now allow us to restore your grout to like new condition. Our system will remove oils, grease, grime, and soil from your tile and grout. Even after the soils are removed, your grout may have some imperfections that cannot be taken out with cleaning especially if the grout is more than 10 years old.
We can also seal the grout to help prevent resoiling.

How do we clean your tile? A Brief Explanation Of Our Process
Step 1 - Visual inspection. We will join you in the inspection to be sure that there are no damaged grout areas. If the grout is loose it may be damaged by cleaning.
Step 2 - Pre-treat the tile and grout with a mild alkaline soluntion and allow dwell time. This pre-treatment loosens accumulated soil, grease, and contaminants, and prepares the surface for our cleaning process.  The alkaline solution does not produce any harmful fumes, and ordinary ventilation removes the mild scent within minutes of completion of the job. If necessary we will use a safe gentle acid to attempt to remove any staining that did not come out with the alkaline cleaning agent.
Step 3 - Agitate the prespray in the grout with a grout brush--if necessary
Step 4 - Rinse the pre-spray with high pressured, hot water through our truck mounted machine. We use a pressure washing system designed specifically for tile & grout, acrylic, and epoxy surfaces.  Our truck mounted cleaning process power washes the floor to extract soil and grease from the pores of the tile and grout or other hard surface floors.  The system generates water pressure of 800 to 1,200 P.S.I. and water temperature of approximately 200 degrees to soften and extract years of soil and contaminants.  The floor tool connects to a powerful vacuum hose, which sucks the cleaning disk to the floor, and confines the water spray inside the 16-inch disk.  There is virtually no splash over to worry about.  The vacuum hose draws away the water, along with the dirt, to a containment tank on our truck, and we dispose of the wastes in accordance with EPA regulations.  You will find that our process restores the tile & grout to 85 to 90 percent of its original appearance.  Some stains, (red wine, mustard, dyes, etc.) will not come out because they dye the grout, but the combination of heat, water pressure, and suction removes most stains.
Step 5 - After cleaning we can seal your grout to help prevent resoiling.  The tile & grout floor absorbs the sealer into its pores, creating a barrier against future staining.  The sealer does not change the appearance of the floors by adding a shine or luster.  Instead, it preserves the natural beauty of the surface.

Notice the contrast between the dirty and clean areas.

Notice the demo we cleaned in the middle of the floor. This tile had not been cleaned for 15 years, but as you can see it cleaned up like new.
